ACUTUS ENHANCES ITS TAX ADVISORY RESOURCES

Acutus is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Jimmy Oei as Consultant for the firm’s tax advisory services.

Jimmy joins Acutus with more than 25 years of tax experience. Jimmy was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 1988. He started his career as a State Counsel/Legal Officer of the Inland Revenue Department (now, Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore) in April 1989. Thereafter he held various appointments within the Inland Revenue Scheme of Service nomenclature. He was concurrently appointed as Principal Legal Officer and Senior Tax Specialist (Accredited) prior to leaving the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.

During his stint with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, other than representing the Comptroller of Income Tax and the Commissioner of Stamp Duties before the High Court and Court of Appeal, Jimmy also participated in numerous tax treaties negotiations, drafted legislative amendments and worked with the Ministry of Finance and economic promoting agencies on the implementation and refinement of incentive schemes under the Income Tax Act.

Jimmy joined the law firm, Rajah & Tann LLP, as a partner in May 2011. At Rajah & Tann, other than advising clients on Singapore tax and the application of Singapore’s tax treaties, Jimmy also represented clients in tax disputes with the Comptroller of Income Tax. During his tenure at Rajah & Tann, Jimmy worked closely with corporate lawyers and managers of trust and fiduciary organisations advising on the various aspects of tax laws.

Jimmy’s expertise includes corporate and expatriate tax advisory, international tax issues including transfer pricing, tax treaty and tax optimization. His exposure to different industries equips him with the experience and flexibility to address each client’s unique challenges.

Jimmy is also a member of the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals.
