ACUTUS STRENGTHENS ITS CORPORATE RECOVERY & INSOLVENCY DIVISION
24 September 2014, SINGAPORE – Acutus is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Rick Seah as Director of Corporate Recovery & Insolvency with effect from 1 October 2014.
Rick comes to Acutus with more than 13 years of experience in the area of corporate advisory and insolvency services. He is experienced in handling diverse matters such as litigation support, investigation, judicial management, scheme of arrangement, individual voluntary engagements, receivership and liquidation
Rick started his career as an auditor in Ernst & Young (“EY”) after graduation from NTU in June 1996. After 2 years, he moved on to the Corporate Advisory Department of EY where he specialised in corporate restructuring work for 9 years. During his stint with EY, Rick was heavily involved in high profile restructuring cases which include Tang Dynasty Theme Park, Sogo Departmental Stores, Crown Prince Hotel and Mainboard-listed companies such as Showpla Asia and Citiraya Industries. He was also involved in investigative work during his tenure in EY.
In 2007, Rick was appointed the financial controller of a Mainboard-listed company and thereafter, a finance director of two local advertising firms which are part of a well-known multinational group listed on the London Stock Exchange.
He decided to move back to the public accounting practice in 2010 by joining Stone Forest Corporate Advisory (“Stone Forest”). At Stone Forest, besides insolvency and litigation support engagements, Rick also undertook assignments such as corporate governance review and special audits, highlighting corporate governance lapses and internal control weaknesses. He is familiar with the requirements of the SGX listing manual, the Singapore’s Companies Act and Code of Corporate Governance. Rick works closely with corporate lawyers and audit committee of listed companies during the course of his work.
Other than being a Chartered Accountant of Singapore and an approved liquidator, Rick is also a member of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and an associate mediator certified by the Singapore Mediation Centre and he volunteers his mediation services at the State Court.
